PE and Games at Pudsey Waterloo Primary School

At Pudsey Waterloo we aim to provide a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. We provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness, and opportunities to compete in sport and other activities that build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Aims - The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities

  • are physically active for sustained periods of time

  • engage in competitive sports and activities

  • lead healthy, active lives

School Games Mark

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

Schools can be graded as Bronze, Silver or Gold level.

Since 2013, we have applied each year and successfully been graded as Silver or Gold.

In the academic year 2015-2016 we were graded as Gold, which we have continued to uphold each year.

Last academic year (2021-2022) we were graded as Platinum - the highest School Games Mark accolade! We will remain Platinum for 2 years now, until 2023.
