History at Pudsey Waterloo
At Pudsey Waterloo, our history teaching focuses on enabling children to think like historians. In both KS1 and KS2, children learn about the history of the UK, its influence on the world and significant aspects of history throughout the wider world. We place an emphasis on examining historical artefacts, comparing primary and secondary sources and discussing their reliability. We want children to ask questions and make the links between local, regional, national and international history, comparing various cultures and their influences. Children are provided with knowledge organisers which are used throughout that history topic to help them learn the key facts about that time period. There is also a history timeline outside the lunch hall detailing key facts and periods throughout history which children can look at each day to develop their chronological understanding.
