Our theme for learning this half term is 'Build it'.
We will be using this half term to learn explore different areas of construction in the school setting and the environment around us. We will be using our amazing imaginations to help us recreate our own models in the 'Robot Workshop' in addition to using new ideas to help us develop our own stories.
It's not a box!
For the past two weeks we have been reading 'Not a Box' by Antoinette Portis. The children were really good at understanding how our own imaginations can help turn the smallest thing into something amazing! We had lots of fun considering what our own boxes could be before setting the children a really tricky challenge. The challenge was to create their own 'Not a Box' at home and wear it into school. All the staff in Reception were amazed by the fantastic box costumes that came into school that morning! We had never seen so many unicorns, superheroes, robots and many more. We even got time to show off the costumes to the whole school during our box parade! It was clear that lots of thought and dedication had gone into these boxes at home. Thank you to all the children and grown ups who helped with the costumes, all your hard work was much appreciated!
