Please note that data sheets have come home this week and if you could check and sign them that would be great. If we are able to share your child’s photo/video/audio on the website then please remember to check you have given us permission. We will then be able to upload other photographs of all our fun learning once we have received all forms.

We have been so proud of the children and the way they have come back into school with a big smile on their faces and having such a positive attitude to their learning has meant that we have had such fun and made lots of progress. It has been a busy start to the year, we started by writing a retell of the Rainbow Fish story and then moved onto a retell of The Jolly Postman, before innovating the story to include our own characters.

The children have also enjoyed their independent learning both inside and outside in provision areas. They have produced some fantastic discovery pieces and we are all excited to see where next half term takes us.

We hope you all have a fabulous break and we will see you on Monday 2nd November.

The year 1 team

It has been another busy half term and we have been learning so many things. From our zgoldilocks story to writing a letter to the three bears to say sorry, it’s been amazing to see the children progress with their writing. We have learnt about adjectives, nouns and verbs and we know our sentences must start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

During this half term we have also excelled with our knowledge of addition. We have learnt about part whole models, used stem sentences to help us understand the models and then we have done some tricky addition. Everyone has tried so hard and it has been amazing to see.

We also saw the first sign of winter when the snow came. The children had play time in the snow and what fun it was to see the big smiles on their faces.

Thank you to all the grown ups for being so supportive, whether it be with reading a little each night, practising words at home, counting and speaking with your children about what we are learning in school. It has been a long half term, but next week we will be filming our performances. These will then be edited and added to the website for you to watch. We hope you like them.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy festive period and we hope you stay safe and spend some lovely time with your loved ones.
