Welcome to the Year 6 page!
This half term our topic is
Inheritance and Evolution!
We will be learning all about how different plants and animals have evolved over time, what we inherit from our families and we will even be looking into DNA and other aspects of being a human. The driver for this half term is science and the children have already started looking into adaptation of animals which will then lead to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution!
In Year 6 we love to read!
In year 6 we are half way through reading War Horse. The main character Joey, a young farm horse, has been sold to the army and thrust into the midst of war on the Western Front. With his officer, he charges towards the enemy, witnessing the horrors of the frontline. But even in the desolation of the trenches, Joey's courage touches the soldiers around him ... we wonder if he will make it out alive!
In year 6 we read a minimum of 3 times a week at home and we read a lot in school too! We get our planners signed weekly to show that we have read with or to someone else.
KEEP UP THE HARD WORK :)
