Within this half term we were focusing on different monarchs including Queen Elizabeth II and Henry VIII. We looked at the royal family and what it was like in the day of Henry VIII. We went on an exciting trip to Skipton Castle and celebrated the end of our topic with a banquet!
In English we read 'George's Dragon'.
We enjoyed visiting Skipton Castle. We learnt about the features in the castle and what rooms it had inside. Take a look at our visit in the pictures. Can you name the features of the castle?
Back at school we made castle models out of construction bricks and blocks. We worked as a team to create our models and labelled the different features.
We took part in a carousel of activities to find out what we could do in a minute.
Roots, Shoots and Magic Beans!
This half term we are focusing on plants and have planned lots of different investigations. We are reading 'Jack and the Beanstalk' in English and are planning on retelling the story and writing our own narrative.
Pudsey Park and Library Visit
We went on a trip to Pudsey Library and learnt about how to find books in there. We listened to some stories and even joined in with one. At the end, we were all allowed to choose a book to bring back to school.
On the way back we walked through Pudsey Park to have a look at the Spring flowers and the local environment.
The children were really excited about science week. It was all about changes!! The children took part in two investigations.
1. Changing the colour of the the flowers using food colouring.
2. Sweet investigation. This allowed the children to think about their own sweets that they would like to use in the investigation. How do sweets change in water?
Maths - Quarters
The children were really excited when the teachers brought food in for maths to help them understand quarters of shapes. All children had to find a quarter of piece of bread. Take a look at their excited faces!!!
