History at Pudsey Waterloo
History enables the children to learn about the past events which have shaped our world today. It allows us to grasp an understanding of how people used to live and make detailed comparisons to the world today. Children can develop their knowledge and understanding of their relative’s family life, how they used to live and what life was really like. However, they can also research into the historical events which have changed other countries and times.
At Pudsey Waterloo the children will be given the opportunity to learn the key skills through investigation and interpretation of the past whilst learning to communicate historically about key events and their chronological order. They will also be able to build an overview of world history through a variety of sources and artefacts.
Local History in Pudsey
Through history the children are able to explore our local area! Here at Pudsey Waterloo we believe it is as important to learn about the area we live in and how it has changed over time.
This year Pudsey Waterloo celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
Children throughout the school were asked to get involved by sketching and painting 200 images.
The children did a fantastic job and the photos were sent down to a ceremony which happened in London on the 18th June.
Below are just a couple of images the children created.
