The children in year 5 produced some beautiful homework about the First World War at half term: you can see some of their work below. We have also enjoyed watching the Sainsbury's advert which showed the story of the Christmas Truce in 1914. The children have written some fantastic and moving letters imagining they were Jim, the soldier featured in the advert. There's a link to the advert below.
Year 5 were astonished to find an earth tremor had hit their classrooms recently. They busily began to tidy up the damage, only to have to hide under the tables when we were struck by an aftershock!
Fortunately, this has led us to writing some wonderful newspaper reports about the whole experience.
This Is Me!
The children have been enjoying finding out more about themselves, and took part in a great circus workshop where they learnt about the value of respect.
The children have all been writing about their aspirations and displaying them on a 'This Is Me' oak tree. 'From little acorns, mighty oaks grow'!
No Pens Day Wednesday!
As part of our This Is Me week, the children had a great time making Flood Barriers to protect their sugar cube buildings. Well done William and Jacob for making a barrier that kept their sugar cubes dry for over 5 minutes.
